a little perspective

A young friend of mine recently fell for a really nice guy. Trouble is, he's in the military, and about a week after they realized they were mutually soft on each other, he was shipped away to someplace hot and dry and none too friendly. As is usual with situations like his, he never knows when he'll have email or phone access. And she never knows when he is safe and when he isn't. Even when they can get messages through to each other, they must be brief, and they don't know when they'll be able to make contact again.

I think about that, and then about my own situation. Things may not always be perfect with the relationship I'm in, but ... well, they could be a lot tougher than they are.
